I am physically stronger and mentally calmer and clearer!  I have a stronger sense of who I am and it was been so wonderful to share my understanding with other like-minded people.  Some of the highlights of this retreat for me was overcoming fear and being with such wonderful people.  Hope took us on a journey at just the right pace.  I look forward to experiencing all the post-retreat benefits!

The Schedule

Of course, part of the magic of any journey comes with staying open and saying yes to life without expectations. Our yoga retreat schedule is always subject to change based on where spirit guides us, what inspiration comes forth, and what plans the weather may have. That being said, following is the schedule we have planned for you.

Day One

 

Beautiful Views

 

As your feet touch the ground and you inhale the fresh canyon air, stress begins to melt away. And you have only just begun! As your senses take in the breathtaking surroundings, you’re suddenly filled with a sense of wonder.

 

Once settled in, you may take a walk by the creek, sit on your porch, or explore the beautiful setting.

 

Later we will come together with others for introductions, to set our sacred circle and our intentions, and for a gentle yoga practice as we begin our deep dive inward.

Day Two

We’ll share yoga and meditation  (suitable for all levels) specifically designed to go inward where consciousness flows, listening, observing, and transforming.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We’ll gather for a breakfast feast including homemade granola, steel-cut oatmeal, hard and soft boiled eggs, South African seven grain bread, sun-dried plums in cinnamon orange sauce, cut fresh fruit, and juice.

Or how about mouth watering quiche (a new option each day including chili relleno, tortilla, tomato feta, vegetable), and if that weren’t enough we will be greeted with the aroma of specialty baked goods with a rotating assortment of muffins, honey bran bundt cake, or cranberry nut torte.

We’ll adventure out to a breathtaking canyon for hiking and a walking meditation enjoying the beauty of our surroundings.

With free time in the afternoon you will be free to explore the beautiful setting with 9 lush acres of healing, majestic canyon oaks bathed in dappled sunlight as you enjoy the view of Sedona’s majestic red rocks.

If you like, this might be an ideal time to take advantage of your spa service in the heated private gazebo by the creek, or in the privacy of your own room.

This is your chance to melt into the table as your massage therapist and the sounds of nature invite your body and soul to fully relax and let go. There are other options, too—for example, a gentle hike, a walking or seated meditation, an hour of journaling, or simply sitting in peace while soaking up the healing sounds of the creek.

Day Three

We’ll root to rise Friday morning with hiking, sunrise yoga and meditation.

As the sun warms the red rocks and our bodies we will practice together, grounding down and continuing to move inward as we prepare to rise!

We’ll hike up to the top of Cathedral Rock for an unforgettable experience and one of Sedona’s most breathtaking views!

Back at the inn you will have free time to explore the beautiful setting with 9 lush acres of healing, majestic canyon oaks bathed in dappled sunlight as you enjoy the view of Sedona’s majestic red rocks.

After dinner we will gather for a restorative yoga practice, listening deeply to what your body really wants, and then join together to share beautiful meditations and reflections from the day.

Day Four

On Saturday we will venture into the healing vortex energies of Sedona for yoga, hiking, and a “Vision Walk”, which is a walking meditation that allows you to answer any question or solve any problem in minutes by accessing your own internal wisdom.  We will end with circle time and sharing.

Later we will make our way to a dinner celebration at one of Sedona’s finest organic restaurants, Picazzos.  Where the gluten free, organic, non-gmo options are many and include possibilities such as a Super Quinoa Bowl, Super Food Chocolate Pudding, and Caprese made with fresh mozzarella, organic tomatoes, avocado, basil, and topped of with fig balsamic vinegar and flatbread.

Then we’ll take a short hike to a special spot for gentle yoga and meditation and to watch the beautiful multi-hued sunset as the sun goes down behind Cathedral Rock.

Day Five

Goodnight - But Not Goodbye

 

 

 

Sunday morning we will gather for our last time together to listen, reflect and acknowledge our gifts, our beauty and the tenderness of our own magnificent hearts.

We will practice what we have learned together and set our intentions for the journey forward, each of us opening to a walk through life that is every bit as rich and rewarding as the one we have just experienced!

I love hosting retreats for others! I also love teaching, encouraging, and being a yes-sayer, space-holder, and life coach.

 

Although I have been coaching in one form or another most of my life, it wasn’t until a cancer diagnosis turned my world upside down that I was led to my true passion of helping others through Hope’s Yoga.

 

On my spiritual journey, I learned that my internal world MATTERED.

 

I tapped into my internal voice, got in touch with my feelings and emotions, and became grounded in my body and mind. As a result, my whole life changed for the better.

 

I no longer felt like life was just passing me by.  That is the message I am passionate about sharing with everyone! And I am just as passionate about sharing the tools and knowledge I have mastered on my healing journey to help others live their best life. And that includes you!

 

Creating a fabulous life takes a combination of a healthy body, a well-nourished spirit, and the proper mindset. But if I can do it, so can you!

When I began my healing journey, I was beaten down by life. I had ignored my internal compass for a long time, and my body and mind were paying a hefty price. I found myself in a cycle of never-ending physical challenges and felt as if my world was crumbling under my feet.

First I was diagnosed with autoimmune problems, and then as infertile. I was told that I could not conceive another child. I already had one young daughter, and I knew in my heart that I was going to give birth to another girl—even if the doctor flatly said it wasn’t possible. I also knew medications and “learning to live with it” were not the answer for me.

I was overjoyed at the results of following my heart, and the lifestyle changes left me feeling much better. However, there was a missing component to my healing that I would not grasp until years later.

Then two traumatic events changed my life forever. In early May of 2009, I was awakened by a sharp pain in my right breast. I had a piercing thought that this might be a sign of breast cancer. Although I eventually got back to sleep, that internal voice lingered. After a series of tests, a doctor visit confirmed my worst fears. In that instant, my whole world turned upside-down.

With a quick one-two “bad-stuff-happens” punch, just as I was completing my treatment for breast cancer, my mother passed away. Immediately I went into lock-down mode. Totally stressed out, in the depths of grief and despair, I felt that I was at the end of my story. The stress continued to build with no outlet, and my health continued to slide downhill.

It was then that a doctor recommended that I try yoga. Yoga had been on my to-do list for years, but I had never gotten around to actually doing it. I found a local studio and went to a class. I have to admit I was scared. I had seen those extreme yoga poses on the covers of magazines, and I wondered what I was getting myself into. I couldn’t do a lot at first. However, my inner voice said that I was in the right place, so I committed to attending class regularly.

That was when the shift occurred.

I had no idea the journey I was beginning would be so profound and transformational. As I moved deeper into my practice and my heart, layers of “holding” began to unravel, and I began to heal both in body and mind. My life started to look different as I changed the way I looked at it. I began to find my true self underneath layers of what had seemed like my reality.

And in doing so, I found something just as valuable: I found my passion for helping others nourish their unique journey toward self-discovery and living a joyful and connected life.

Just as a flower unfurls as it blooms, I began to unfurl and bloom—body, mind, and spirit and my life and health began to change in ways I could not have imagined.

I breathed more freely, balanced more steadily, and became stronger in every way. The pain in my body began to subside. I slept better. I ate better. And I developed a stronger sense of myself.

On my spiritual journey, I learned that my internal world MATTERED.

As I pursued my deepest calling the universe seemed to open its doors in my favor. I have had the privilege to study with many leading yoga teachers representing several traditions. My practice and teaching center around the heart and how to live a more heart centered, connected and joyful life.

As part of my regular yoga classes and as a healthy living educator and coach I have been able to work with companies like Whole Foods Market, Macy’s, and Teavana to bring yoga programs to their customers and employees. It is my joy to also work with cancer survivors and those with chronic illness. I was honored to be featured in the AJC for this work. One of my favorite things to do is to work one-on-one with individuals who are looking to heal and to find strength, vibrancy and a place of peace in their lives.

As I began my journey of healing I was inspired to write (something I would have never done before).  Although I categorically refused that internal voice for quite sometime it remained until eventually I sat down and wrote my first piece. I then submitted it to a large on-line health and wellness site – MindBodyGreen.

In what seemed like lightening speed I received an email saying they were going to publish my piece and as they say the rest is history. I have been writing ever since and continue to write regularly for MindBodyGreen. Some other places my work has also been featured are Mantra Magazine, Lucy Activewear (where I am a regular contributor), The Wellness Universe and the YMCA and well as my own blog.

I have been humbled and touched to receive several honors including Reader’s Choice “Best of Atlanta” by Atlanta Magazine and being named one of Atlanta’s “Over 40 and Fabulous” by Best Self Atlanta Magazine.

I am a certified RTY500 (registered yoga teacher) but have no plans to stop here! I am a life long student and continue to study and to deepen my own practice and knowledge and it is my joy to share what I learn with others as we journey together! You can find out more at www.hopesyoga.com.
